Super Bowl LIII Plumbing Playbook
Super Bowl Sunday is just days away! Your guest list is confirmed, the menu is set, and your TVs are ready, but chances are you haven’t thought twice about tackling your plumbing system! Save the Hail Mary’s for the game, because risking a plumbing issue during the Super Bowl is not worth the risk.
Behind Thanksgiving, Super Bowl Sunday is the 2nd largest day for food consumption, according to American Institute of Food Distribution. These food-centered gatherings are the busiest times of plumbing season for a multitude of reasons!
With toilets and garbage disposals working overtime, chances of losing the plumbing game to a plumbing incident are higher than usual! F.H. Furr recommends that homeowners prepare bathrooms and the kitchen before guests arrive, and to periodically check on the status of their plumbing system during long commercial breaks!
F.H. Furr has 6-points to keep in mind to help prevent any plumbing penalties this Super Bowl Sunday:
1. Ensure a trash bin is in each bathroom.
Never flush facial tissue, paper towels, sanitary products, or napkins.
2. Avoid pouring fat or grease down the drain
Greasy, fried foods are Super Bowl favorites. Keep in mind that grease is extremely hard on pipes! Be sure to wipe grease off plates and pans before washing them.
3. Don’t overload your garbage disposal
After the game is over, your garbage disposal may seem like an easy way to quickly get rid of leftover food or drinks. However, greasy, stringy, or excess food may result in a clog and can cause severe damage to your disposal system.
4. Locate main water valve
In event of a plumbing disaster, it’s important to know where your main water valve is in order to turn it off if needed.
5. Remove small items off toilets
Be sure to remove clutter that may be on top of your toilet to avoid a serious potential party interference.
6. Be nice to your dishwasher
Be sure to clean your dishwasher before heavy usage. Sometimes a film can build up on the bottom of your dishwasher making it tougher to perform at optimal levels.
We hope everyone has a fun-filled Super Bowl Sunday! Always remember, if you find yourself in the middle of a plumbing disaster, call the professionals at F.H. Furr!
