Record-Warm Holiday Weather!
No white Christmas for us this year! Turn up the AC, it’s in the 70s. This holiday season, northern Virginia, DC, and Maryland are experiencing record-warm temperatures. Although the warm weather is said to be related to normal weather patterns, it won’t last long. Still, for now, we’ll be dealing with weather that feels a bit more like spring than winter!
As you enjoy, or lament, the warmth, be sure to keep an eye out for flooding. With rain in the forecast, it’s important to be sure your sump pump is functioning properly. It might be a good idea to get a water alarm installed — have your bases covered for when guests arrive.
You can also take advantage of the temperatures by keeping your thermostat at an even 68 degrees. You might as well use this opportunity to save a bit of money on your utility bills.
Remember, although you might feel like you should be wishing your neighbors a “Mele Kalikimaka,” winter cold will return, so be sure your heating system is ready to handle it.
Happy holidays from our family to yours!
