Community Care
It has always been the desire of F.H. Furr to create a community that is supportive of one another. That means caring for the people within the community, and making it a better place to be. We consistently partner with Volunteer Prince William, Northern Virginia Family Service and Nova Project Giveback to provide essentials for those in need. Some of the ways that we do that include:
- Keep ‘Em Warm Coat Drive each Winter
- Family Movie nights throughout the Summer
- Charity walks/runs
- Disease fundraising events
- Support for local festivals and arts
Clean Roads Initiative
Cleaning up our community starts on the highway! At F.H. Furr, our staff volunteers are proud to clear the trash from the roads, keeping the community clean and green! We have four highways that we’ve adopted and committed to keeping clean!
- Adopt-A-Highway Prince William County
- Adopt-A-Highway Fairfax County
- Adopt-A-Highway Loudoun County
Hylton Performing Arts Center
F.H. Furr isn’t just about sports. We value the arts as well and feel that they play a large role in the completeness of our community. That’s why we sponsor venues like the Hylton Performing Arts Center where we know local artists can flourish.
Connor’s Heroes
Connor’s Heroes is dedicated to helping the families in Central Virginia cope with childhood cancer and our community’s researchers conquer it. Their mission is to build a community of heroes who provide hope, guidance, and support.
TOPSoccer
TOPSoccer Programs in Virginia are sponsored by the Virginia Youth Soccer Association and are affiliated with United States Youth Soccer. The Outreach Program for Soccer is a community-based training and team placement program for young athletes with disabilities organized by VYSA member clubs and volunteers. The programs are designed to bring the enjoyment of learning and playing soccer to boys and girls who have a mental or physical disability.
Feed More
Feed More is dedicated to feeding our neighbors who are food insecure across 29 counties and five cities. There is a lot of need in Central Virginia – 1 out of every 9 individuals in our service area is food insecure, meaning that more than 165,000 of our neighbors face hunger. And of that, more than 50,500, or 1 in 6 children, are not eating enough. Where there is need, we are here to help.
Haymarket Regional Food Pantry
The Haymarket Regional Food Pantry is a community based non-profit organization comprised entirely of volunteers dedicated to eliminating hunger by providing food to individuals and families in Haymarket, Gainesville, and the surrounding areas. Unlike most food pantries that require clients to demonstrate financial need, the Haymarket Regional Food Pantry will feed anyone in their service area in need of food.
Toys For Tots
Through the gift of a new toy or book, Marine Toys for Tots programs bring the joy of Christmas and
send a message of hope to America’s disadvantaged children. To date, we’ve distributed 652 million toys to 291 million deserving children.
Wounded Warrior Project
Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) began in 2003 as a small, grassroots effort providing simple care and comfort items to the hospital bedsides of the first wounded service members returning home from the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. As their post-service needs evolved, so have our programs and services. Today, through our direct programs in mental health, career counseling, and long-term rehabilitative care, along with our advocacy efforts, we improve the lives of millions of warriors and their families.
Ohana Preservation Foundation
A non-profit organization in Aldie, Virginia, with a mission to serve vulnerable children, their families, and caregivers through equine, art, and horticultural programs where they can experience well-being in a therapeutic, rural environment.
Willing Warriors
Willing Warriors offers cost-free getaways from the hospital environment where Warriors and their families can come to relax, spend quality time together, and reconnect. Their programs include more than 40+ cost-free educational and recreational activities, including seminars that address the issues of dealing with PTS and TBI. The intended outcome of these retreat stays is the Warrior, and their family members return to the routine of rebuilding their lives feeling refreshed and inspired.
Capital Area Food Bank
The Capital Area Food Bank leads the region’s efforts to provide equitable access to food and opportunity to people struggling with hunger and food insecurity. Each year, CAFB sources and distributes food for more than 50 million meals.
