Give That Kitchen Sink An Upgrade!

We all get the remodel bug every now and then. However, it’s a cost that we don’t want to foot the bill for all the time. Small projects around the house don’t have to cost you an arm and a leg! Make a list of the projects that you might like to do and then break them down into smaller tasks that won’t cause you to spend everything in your wallet AND the kitchen sink! Wait a minute, that’s a great project to start with for a small upgrade – THE KITCHEN SINK!

Sure we all look at the scratched-up sink when we do the dishes, but hey! It’s used quite often and takes a good bit of wear and tear. Here are some suggestions for upgrading a large part of your kitchen for not a ton of cash!

Clean It Up and Make It Sparkle!
Materials
  • Liquid dishwashing soap
  • Distilled white vinegar
  • Baking Soda
  • Sea Salt
  • Lemon (or lime)
  • Ice
Tools
  • Old toothbrush
  • Soft sponge
What to Do
  1. Rinse out your sink well.
  2. Sprinkle baking soda onto the surface. Working it into a paste, rinse thoroughly.
  3. Using a paper towel, wet it thoroughly with vinegar and rub it all over the sink.
  4. Rinse the sink with warm soapy water.
  5. For the faucets and handles, wipe with a mild soapy solution. The toothbrush can be used to get in the hard-to-reach areas. If spots remain, a cloth soaked in white vinegar can be used. Once you’re finished cleaning, rinse, dry and watch it glisten!
Add A Filter!

While most refrigerators offer filtered water dispensers, some don’t or it may even be helpful to have more than one in the kitchen! Adding a water filter to your sink doesn’t take much time at all for a “do-it-yourself” person and they fit right under your sink! It will also help you save money if you’re a bottled water buyer and you’ll be able to recycle by reusing bottles!

Give It A Dispenser!

Did you know that if you already have an extra faucet hole on your sink, you can turn it into a soap or lotion dispenser in no time! You can declutter the area around the sink by using it for dishwashing soap or hand soap and then you will even be able to save money by buying it in larger amounts!

These few ideas are just the tip of the iceberg in upgrading your kitchen! They’re probably some of the most cost-effective as well!
