F.H. Furr Cares: Volunteering At Ohana Preservation Foundation

F.H. Furr Has Been Serving The DMV Area For Over 40 Years! That’s Why We Feel Responsible For Staying Active In A Community That Has Given Us So Much. One Of The Ways We Give Back Is By Volunteering At Awesome Facilities, Such As Ohana Preservation Foundation.

At F.H. Furr, our employees are honored to volunteer, serve and get involved in their community. One way our D.C. and VA employees give back to their community is by volunteering at Ohana Preservation Foundation!

Ohana Preservation Foundation is a non-profit organization based in Aldie, VA, with a mission to serve vulnerable children, their families, and caregivers through equine, art, and horticultural programs where they can experience self-discovery and calmness in a therapeutic, rural environment amid the green paddocks of the equine preserve. 

F.H. Furr has partnered with Ohana to help support their ongoing monthly event, where volunteers help landscape the grounds.  This effort helps ensure the space where families are coming to visit and heal remains a clean and peaceful place.  We also have attended and supported some of their different programs, which include Equine Connections, Mindful Gardening, Art Making, and Mobile Equine Interactions with Mini Horses. 

One of the most recent events F.H. Furr was able to be a part of was Ohana’s Springtime in the Paddock, this past May. The Springtime in the Paddock event allowed a safe, therapeutic getaway for several families who were experiencing difficult times in the grieving process. The children got to express themselves while making wind chimes, then they were treated to a movement therapy session before jetting off in the hay wagon to go spend some time with the animals of the Ohana. This included the horses, miniature horses, ducks, chickens & bunnies. Meanwhile our F.H. Furr volunteers got to help with the children’s scavenger hunt and man the chicken coop.

Not only does F.H. Furr encourage our employees to volunteer and give back to their community, but we also donate 10% of all of our annual profits to local organizations and charities.
