10-Step COVID-19 Technician Safety Protocol
As we continue to serve our customers through this pandemic, we want to assure you that we’re doing our part to create protocols and safety regulations to help halt the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).
Here are the 10 steps we’ve put in place for every F.H. Furr technician to follow. Each step is designed to protect our customers as we provide essential home comfort services.
1. PROFESSIONALLY CLEANED UNIFORMS
All F.H. Furr technicians are required to wear fresh uniforms daily that have been professionally cleaned and laundered by a third party.
2. SHOE COVERS
Our technicians will wear protective shoe covers inside the home. All shoe covers will be worn indoors only, and if the technician needs to retrieve an item from the truck, they will remove the shoe covers and place them by the door. They will put them back on immediately upon reentering the home. New shoe covers are worn on every job and disposed of promptly at the end of the job.
3. REGULAR HAND WASHING & TOWEL SUPPLY
Water and soap or hand sanitizer will be used to wash hands frequently. Our technicians will bring their own towels to dry their hands after each wash and will dispose of the towels immediately upon use. Our technicians will not use the customer’s towels.
4. PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
Our technicians will wear masks and gloves at all times throughout their visit. All technicians have been advised to not touch their face or any other item that does not need to be touched. All technicians carry disinfecting spray with them to every job.
All workspaces and equipment will be cleaned after each use. All technicians will carry company-provided hand sanitizer and will routinely sanitize their hands throughout the duration of the job.
5. NO SHARING
Technicians will not ask customers to touch their tablets or other property. Technicians will not share gloves, tools, or cell phones. If an item must be used by more than one technician, they will clean the item thoroughly after each use.
6. F.H. FURR-SUPPLIED ITEMS
Only items supplied by F.H. Furr will be used. Technicians will never request to use any customer’s tools, supplies, or materials.
7. CLEAN WORKSPACE
Our technicians will always clean any equipment, tools, and work areas thoroughly between every use. All equipment, tools, and materials will be placed on the floor and will never be placed on your home furnishings or countertops.
All equipment, tools, and materials will be placed on a dropcloth to further protect your home. All technicians carry a disinfecting spray in their vehicles. They will wipe down all workspaces and equipment with this spray once their work is complete.
8. EMPLOYEE HEALTH PROTOCOL
All technicians have been instructed to follow a strict health protocol. If any of our technicians begin to show any CDC-published symptoms of COVID-19 or come into contact with anyone who is showing symptoms, they are required to suspend all work activities and seek clearance from their doctor before returning to work.
Medical clearance must be documented and return to work must be approved by our Human Resources Department.
9. PROPER DISPOSAL
All technicians have been instructed to throw all tissues, cleaning wipes, and used protective equipment into proper garbage receptacles immediately after they finish using them.
10. OPEN DOOR POLICY
All technicians have been instructed to leave all interior doors open throughout the work process to reduce the contact made with door handles. Exterior doors may also be left open if the customer approves and the weather allows.
SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING
Our number one priority is to keep your home and family safe. If you see an F.H. Furr employee practicing unsafe hygiene or work habits, report the behavior to our Human Resources Department at safetyfirst@fhfurr.com so it can be corrected.
